Her Unique Tale...
TropiGal has always loved and admired MINIs. On one of her many adventures, she had the opportunity to explore the Dutch Caribbean Island of Curacao in a MINI Cooper S convertible from Sandals Royal Curacao. From that day forward she knew she had to have one.
The quest began. Black metallic was always her go-to color, but when she saw the Caribbean aqua blue metallic, it reminded her of the beautiful waters of the tropics, and her mind was made up.
She found the car of her dreams in her favorite MINI color, with low miles, and satellite grey interior! It had all the bells and whistles, boot and bonnet racing strips, plus some pretty cool extras AND it was even in her home state of Georgia. SOLD! Or so she thought...
When she called the dealer to inquire, her dream MINI had just been bought by someone else. Sad and depressed, the search started over, but that exact combination was nowhere to be found.
One day, later that week, the dealer called to let her know that the buyer's financing fell through, and her dream car was available again! Less than 48 hours later, she was delivered to her new home. It was love at first sight the moment TropiGal laid eyes on her.
But what to name her? Growing up, TropiGal loved the Disney movie The Little Mermaid. She's always been fascinated by pirate lore, mermaids, and of the sea. It only took a few days, and the choice became obvious. Ariel of course! 🧜♀️
TropiGal loves spending time with her, and they have been inseparable ever since.
Happy Motoring! 🏁

It All Started with a Duck!
Why It's An Honor To Be Given One...
The Big Duck, a well-known landmark, started it all. This landmark sits by a road in Hampton Long Island and was happened upon during a MINI gathering some years ago. Ed “MAXAMINI” Smith was a whimsical man who many grew to love and frequented many events, drove a 2003 MCS, Electric Blue (in Ed’s case, Eccentric Blue) with white wheels. During Ed’s visit to the Long Island icon, he was fascinated with The Big Duck and purchased a rubber duck at the souvenir shop. The duck immediately found a place on the antenna of MAXAMINI. Ever since then, the duck became an icon.
Ed was always willing to lend a hand; he volunteered his time and good humor to MINIs on Top and the Make-A-Wish Toy Drive. Ed’s dedication and enthusiasm ran endlessly, making friends and wise-cracking his way around the globe via MINI Forums. When Ed met you for the first time, he would present you with a DUCK. When you pass a MINI in your travels, take notice how many MINI owners sport a yellow rubber duck… All thanks to Ed.
Ed passed away suddenly in the summer of 2005. The worldwide outpouring of affection for Ed demonstrated how one man could bond so many people around the world from Australia to England and back to the United States!
IN MEMORY OF ED SMITH,
REMEMBER TO NOT TAKE YOURSELF TOO SERIOUSLY AND ENJOY LIFE!

Top 5 MINI Rules of the Road: 1. Always park next to other MINIs. There is safety in numbers. Backing in is preferred. 2. Wave hello to fellow MINI drivers. 3. Give your MINI a name. 4. Admire your MINI and be unique. No two MINIs should be alike. 5. Take your MINI to meet other MINIs. They need to socialize. |
